recently i picked up a small collection of Rock tour shirts from the 1970's and 1980's. they are all from the original owner, many just worn a few times , if at all. lots of interesting bands from some of their most iconic tours. check my other and upcoming listings for more. this listing is for an
ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1974 GENESIS Tour Shirt.
I acquired this from a friend who purchased this from one of the merchandise stands inside the venue of the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore when he saw them on the LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY tour at the end of 1974. There are no tour dates on the shirt but those weren't always on the shirts back in those days. I just have my friend's word but I have no reason to doubt him as he is solidly sure that this is the case. I wish it was in Johan Kugelberg's Vintage Rock T-Shirts book or some other reference but I could find no other example of this shirt elsewhere. For that matter , I couldn't find another example of the trippy art that is used for the design.. It is without a doubt an EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE prog rock artifact . should belong in an archive or museum. This tour was marked the end of Peter Gabriel's tenure in the band. but I'm sure you knew that already.
condition:  pretty nice. 100% Cotton. pre-owned, worn and washed probably just a few times  still looks great. front print still vibrant. no holes. some small stains (see photos) these may come out, it's been in a drawer for decades, I've not tried to wash it, I'll leave that to the next owner. The tag reads "L" but check out the photos for exact measurements of it lying flat on the ground. offering in "as found" as they say.
